Welcome to Wootton and Bashley Club and thank you for visiting our website.

History

Set in the heart of the beautiful New Forest, we were formerly known as Wootton & Bashley Working Men's Social Club, The club was originally founded in 1921 by a group of local working men who found the nearby pubs too expensive.  We still have descendants of the original founders living nearby and they share stories of their humble beginnings bringing in tables and chairs from their own homes to get the place started.  Since then the club has evolved with the times and in its' heyday it was so popular it was extended. Today we are still enjoying this fantastic venue, holding regular music, race, quiz and skittle nights. We have bingo here every Wednesday & Sunday evening and we have a large function room available for hire. 

Memberships

We like to think of ourselves as a very friendly, members club. New members are very much encouraged and welcomed.

A one-off initial joining fee is just £25.00 for the whole year. After this, an annual renewal fee of £15.00 is due every January. Concessions may be available if you join half way through the year. 

Members Benefits

Very cheap bar prices, access to the members bar and games room, free entry to the club and most of its functions,  preferential rates for function room hire (at the discretion of the committee) plus the opportunity to make new friends from all walks of life.

Facilities

Function Room

Our beautifully, refurbished function room has a licensed bar, tables and chairs, stage and a dance floor with disco ball. It can accommodate up to approximately 100-120 people

Members Bar & Games Room

Our members bar is reserved for our members and their guests only. It has 2 snooker tables, 1 pool tale, darts, fruit machine, TV and juke box. Cards and board games are also available.

Parking

We have ample, free parking including a very large car park to the rear of the building. 

Babies & Small Children

We have 2 highchairs and will shortly be introducing a baby change facility.

Visitors & Guests

We actively welcome and encourage new visitors and guests to the club. If you'd like to pop in for a look round or a quick drink while passing by, please do. Holiday makers welcomed too! Just let our bar staff know you are a visitor and they will charge you £2pp club entry fee per visit. Children free!

Dogs

We love dogs and we are happy for them to come in to the club. We just ask that you keep them under control and on a lead at all times. Free dog treats and a water bowl are available at the bar. 

Children

Children are our future members and it's great that they can come and socialise with their peers. We occasionally hold disco's earlier in the evening just for them. Their health & safety in the club is important to us. Where possible, please ask them not to climb, run and jump on the stage or access the members bar unless supervised by a responsible adult.

Management & The Committee

In 2023 a completely new committee took over the club and are they steadily refurbishing both the interior and exterior of the club. Headed up by our President, Secretary and Treasurer, the committee are totally voluntary and come from various professions which benefit the club immensely. Our committee hold an annual AGM plus regular meetings to organise various events and plan ongoing work and working parties. They are often assisted by some of our members who help out where they can. We like to think of all our committee and members as one big team building a welcoming, community hub for the villages of Wootton, Bashley, Tiptoe and beyond.
